For Sure - Ethel Cain

And time drags on / I hate him for the time he's gone

Hi this is my shrine for insence because i like it alot... I like it in perfumes and just looking at it ☆

What even is it?? Its an aromatic biotic material, so just organic material that smells good. Usually it's made out of dried plants that smell good, like patchouli or rose. The word comes from latin 'incendere' meaning to burn, wow! The ealiest known incsense burner was found in Lower Nubia, Sudan dating back to around 3300-300 BCE. The middle east and asia mostly uses it for religous practices. Same with Greece and Rome. Greece and Rome used it as an offering to deities like Apollo or Aphordite, we do the same in China but we also burn incense for our ancestors as a way of respect (and as offering)

I've been here for weeks / I've been here for years

Combustable - Direct burning, a base that binds to fragrant material so it can burn on its own

Two types of bases (for combustible types), fuel+oxidizer, charcol or wood power provides the fuel for burning, an oxidizer like sodium nitrate or potassium nitrate sustains the burning. There are natural bases but i literally dont understand how they work. Usually combustable are the ones you see the most because theyre easier to burn. You just light them on fire and put them in a holder. They dont produce as much smoke as non-combustable inscenses do.

I was young and sweet and then something happened

Non - Combustable, literally they cant burn so you gotta have something that burns for it.

Usually people just get a charcoal disk, light it, drop the herbs in, and let it smoke. Though it produces ALOT of smoke so keep your windows open. It also burns significantly longer, i think like 1 hour for a charcoal disk? add more incense as the smoke gets lighter. Resin incense like frankinscense and mrryth are ones that are ancient type stuff. Not much to say tbh

Something overwhelming / Something everlasting

all about me and what i like hah if anybody wants to buy me incense ill bless your family

I LOVE CINNAMON I LOVE EATING IT I LOVE SMELLING IT I LOVE BURNING IT. I enjoy smelling cinnamon alot. I like patchouli too, i despise the smell of roses. White sage (ethically sourced but i still wont be using it after, one time buy) is sweet to me and i love it, palo santo is nice but a bit too heavy for me sometimes. I want to try resin incense but i havent had the time to go out and buy it yet. Uhm i generally just really like burning stuff. its really fun to see the flames go up and smelling it later. I also think that the smell lasts longer, so thats epic
